Team CET

The center currently employs around 30 members with a multidisciplinary skill set encompassing different vistas of science and engineering and operates based on a flat topped approach with 10 doctorates, 10 masters and 10 bachelor degree holders with an average experience of 15 years. Members of the center have a mixture of academic and industry experience with significant publications and projects.

Gopalakrishna K holds a Masters in Mechanical Engineering having specialized in Production Engineering from the University of Mysore and a Ph.D. in Polymer Tribology from NAL-VTU. He has an overwhelming experience of more than 25 years in academics and research. In addition to Tribology his research and teaching interests include Pneumatics and Hydraulics, Thermal Engineering and Engineering drawing. Besides being a professor at the center he is also the Associate Dean and Associate Director.  He is also certified by industry major Festo in the domain of mechatronics and executed numerous projects resulting in patent filings. With significant research publications to his credit he has been active in developing autonomous systems for surveillance funded by DRDO, DOS and others. A fellow of various professional bodies such as IEI, ISTE, ISAMPE, his other hobbies include singing and table tennis.


Ramanarasimha K holds a Masters from Gulbarga University and Ph.D. in Thermal Engineering from VTU and has 17 years of academic and research experience. He actively researches in the domain of pulsating heat pipes and fluid mechanics. An active debater and avid reader, he has an exceptional flair for teaching. His teaching interests are Fluid Mechanics and Machinery, CFD, Thermodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer. He has also been one of the selected few from academia to author the course content development for WIPRO in Fluid Mechanics. Amongst the several publications to his credit he also has authored one of top 10 publication of 2010 globally recognized by Emerald Literati. He is currently the Associate Director (PG Programs) and is also a fellow of different professional bodies and has funded projects from various agencies like DRDO to his credit.


Mohan C B has a Masters in Manufacturing and doctorate in Lubricant Tribology from the Visvesvaraya Technological University through the National Aerospace Laboratories and has 17 years of academic experience. His research includes coolant tribology and optimization of oil groove geometry. Mohan’s teaching interests include Theory of Elasticity, Operations Management and Mechanical Measurement. He also has a penchant for singing and vedic chanting. With fellowships of professional bodies and numerous publications to his credit he is currently the Associate Director (Industrial Relations) and is active in developing airborne systems supported by NDRF.


TGS Moorthy with a Ph.D. in Electronics from the University of Sagar has had the distinction of being the founding Dean of Sikkim- Manipal University. He has also been nominated to various academic bodies of different universities in the state and has a rich heritage experience of 40 years to his credit. In erstwhile capacities he steered MIT, Manipal in various capacities. His interest include satellite communication and microwave engineering. He is currently the Advisor to the engineering program.


Basava Kumar K G is currently working as a Professor. He obtained his Ph.D. from IIT Khargapur, M.Tech from Department of Mechanical Engineering, University B D T College of Engineering, Davanagere and BE in Mechanical Engineering from B I E T, Davanagere. His research interests are Tribology, Machinability, Grain Refinement and Modification of Al & its Alloys, C V D and P V D Techniques and Advanced Materials. He has over 15 years of experience and has published around 25 research papers in reputed international / National journals. He has presented papers in several international and national conferences both in India and abroad and is the recipient of project funding from DRDO. His teaching interests are Mechatronics, Automation in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Processes, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, CAD/CAM and Material Science and Metallurgy. He is the recipient of the "Best Technical Paper Award" from World Foundry Congress in 2006, 2008 and 2010.


Ravi Kumar K obtained his education from the premier organizations of India like Regional Institute of Education (NCERT), Pondicherry Central University, Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR). He had extensively worked with post-translational processing of the industrially relevant enzymes from microbes. Then he moved to Northwestern University, Chicago, USA to pursue his post-doc, where he found alternate pathway used by the Adeno viral on coprotein E1A to induce cells to proliferate. This led to new targets for inhibiting the cancer cells.  During his second post-doc at Lousiana State University Health Sciences Center, USA, he worked with the molecular and cellular mechanisms used by the Herpes Simplex Virus 2 to subvert host defense against the virus. This study led to new targets for developing the vaccine against herpes. Ravi is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Center for Emerging Technologies, Jain University and has been instrumental in establishing a program on Food Technology supported by MOFPI.  His lab works with the problems related to the water, food, health, energy and surveillance and has projects supported by DST. Specifically, the following research areas were focused. Biomolecules for decontaminating and decolorisation of water; Nutraceuticals, food related enzymes and nano-fertilizers; Therapeutic enzymes from the microbial sources; Bioactive molecules- enzyme inhibitors, anti-microbial and anti-cancerous metabolites; Nano-delivery systems; Enzymatic biofuel cells, microbes as energy sources; Nanobiosensor for ammonia detection; Immunosensors for pathogen detection. Ravi has to his credit 6 patent filings and more 20 publications and many book chapters.


Kathyayini H is currently working as an Associate Professor at the Center. She obtained her masters and doctoral degree from Bangalore University. She has a combined research and academic experience of 18 years from institutes of repute. She regularly visits NMR unit of FUNDP University, Namur, Belgium to work on the production, characterization and functionalization of multiwalled carbon nanotubes. She has to her credit numerous papers in peer reviewed national and international journals. Her research interests are focused on the preparation and characterization of composites of Multiwalled carbon nanotubes with transition metal oxides and their applications in supercapacitors and in the synthesis of organic fine chemicals (Heterogeneous catalysis). Currently she is working on supercapacitors & heterogeneous catalysis based project funded by DST. Her other research interests include applications of carbon nanotubes - composites as Biosensors, Nanofluids and in the purification of water and also synthesis of biologically important organic molecules.


Narendra Reddy is a materials scientist with interest in developing biopolymeric materials for the medical, composite, textile, thermoplastic and other industries. His goal is to utilize renewable resources and develop bioproducts that can substitute the synthetic polymer based products in current use. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA and has published about 90 peer reviewed papers in high impact journals. Prior to joining Jain University he worked as a research professor at USA. He holds international patents and has presented his research findings in more than 50 international conferences. His research has been widely reported across the world in major news agencies. His future interests include developing biomimetic materials, adding value to agricultural and biofuel coproducts by developing high value bioproducts.  He is the recipient of the Ramalingaswamy fellowship of DBT and works as a Professor at the center and researching on projects supported by DBT, MOFPI and VGST


Anantha Prasad M G is a Professor at the Center for Emerging Technologies. He holds a bachelors in Industrial Production from Bangalore University, M.Tech in Product Design & Manufacturing from V.T.U and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from V.T.U. He has 14 years of experience in academics and 2 years of industrial experience. He has executed sponsored projects on Entrepreneurship. Some of the innovative projects that have been executed are: Conversion of walking stick into chair, Energy Park and Banana Peeling Machine under the sponsorship of state's Science and Technology Council. His areas of interests are in biofuels, advanced materials, cryogenic effect on materials and product design. Ananth has been at the forefront of many entrepreneurship development initiatives supported by DST and EDI


Balaji S is a technologist turned academician with a blend of academic and industry experience and significant expertise in successfully executing and managing R&D intensive projects. While he has considerable experience in developing mission and safety critical applications and cutting edge products in embedded and mobile computing, he also brings vast experience at senior management levels thanks to his stint in ISRO Satellite Center, country's premier space research organization. Balaji has several accomplishments. He has defined and established software processes for developing mission and safety-critical space applications. He has developed a number of simulation packages for the design and design validation of attitude and orbit control systems of satellites. He has introduced numerous innovative techniques for the design and design validation of attitude and orbit control systems for spacecraft and developed advanced test systems to validate the satellite control systems. He has setup the facility for the software development, using high-level programming languages such as Ada, of processor-based satellite control systems, institutionalized processes and methodologies for development of such systems and trained/mentored staff to deliver high quality systems that meet critical spacecraft mission requirements. He has developed several in-house tools for software engineering and project management. Balaji took up teaching after extensive R&D experience in ISRO and taught several Computer Science and Engineering subjects at UG and PG levels. He continues his research in various Computer Science and Engineering areas including Real-Time Systems, Mobile Computing, Image Processing, Modeling and Simulation and Energy Management in Mobile Devices. He has published over 40 papers in national and international journals and conferences. He is currently guiding research scholars towards their Ph.D. from Vivesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and Tumkur University and Jain University. Balaji holds a Ph.D. from Faculty of Engineering specializing in the area of Fault-Tolerant and Real-Time Systems (Computer Science and Engineering) from Indian Institute of Science, a masters from Anna University, and a bachelors from Madras University. Balaji is a Fellow of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineers (IETE–India), a Member of Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, a Member of Astronautical Society of India, a Member of Association for Advancement of Fault-Tolerant and Autonomous Systems, a Member of Indian Society for Technical Education, and a Member of Institute of Smart Structures and Systems.


Bhuvaneswari H B holds a Ph.D. from Mysore University and M.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore. Her areas of specialization include Thin Films Technology, Patch Antennas, VLSI and Solar cells. She has 17 years of teaching experience in various capacities from Lecturer to Professor and as department head in various institutions. She has presented papers at several national and international conferences and authored over 25 journal and conference proceedings. Recipient of Best Mentorship award from RV-VLSI Design Center, Bangalore consecutively for two years (2011 and 2012) she is working as a Professor at the Center for Emerging Technologies and working on many industry academic initiatives.

Geetha Priya M received her B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, M.E. degree in VLSI Design from Anna University, Coimbatore, India and Ph.D. in Low Power VLSI Design from Anna University, Chennai, India. She has a decade of teaching experience. The International Biographical Center, Cambridge, UK has included her name in the many prestigious publications and issued the Cambridge certificate award letters. Her areas of research include Reversible logic design, VLSI Testing and Low power VLSI design. She is a life member of IETE. She has published over 25 papers in reputed journals and conferences and is an owner of an Indian patent. Presently, she is working as an Associate Professor at the Center for Emerging Technologies.


Muralidhara H B obtained his Ph.D. in Nanoelectrochemistry from Kuvempu University during 2008. He worked on graphene based materials for energy and environmental applications during his Post doctoral assignment at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Subsequently he joined as Assistant Professor and Head-R&D Chemistry at KSIT, VTU, Bangalore and served for a period of four years. During this tenure He completed one major research project on advanced waste water treatment process using nanomaterials. Presently He is guiding doctoral students in different thrust areas, He is an author of over 20 international publications and received several honors and awards including MRSI award for the best paper published during 2008. He is a life member for several bodies and reviewer for reputed publishers like Elsevier, Springer and Taylor and Francis. Currently he is working as Assistant Professor at the center.


Prashanth J completed his M.Tech and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with specialization in Coastal Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. He received the Gold Medal during his masters program. He has also worked as JRF and SRF under the Ministry of Water Resources project. His current areas of interest are Application of Soft Computing Techniques in Coastal Engineering, Shoreline Change Studies, Remote Sensing and GIS Applications in Coastal Engineering. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor and has more than 15 publications to his credit.


Nagananda G S has a M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degree in Botany with specialization in Plant Biotechnology. He has 9 years of experience in the field of Plant Biotechnology and actively working in the areas of Medicinal Plants, Orchidology, Phytochemisty and Molecular Biology. He is working extensively in developing cost effective alternative supporting matrix for growing plants under tissue culture conditions. His work on brick pieces as an alternate novel media for plant tissue culture supporting material was recognized by Agricell. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals and was awarded 'Askel Love Prize' for the best original research paper in 10th All India Conference on Cytology and Genetics, Society of Cytologists and Geneticists organized by Andhra University. He worked as a Research Coordinator in the Genohelix Biolabs, A unit of Jain University where he was actively involved in research, training, administration, and management of lab resources. Presently, he is working as an Assistant Professor at the Center.


Pradeep G V is presently working as an Assistant Professor. He has 5 years academic and 6 years of industrial experience. He has worked in the areas of Turbo machinery (Steam Turbine Design & Manufacturing). He is an M.Tech in Energy Engineering and currently pursuing his Ph.D. at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Thermal Engineering Sciences. He teaches Thermal Engineering subjects for M.Tech courses. His area of interest is in Pulsating Heat Pipes


Dhananjaya B L obtained his M.Sc (2003) and Ph.D (2009) in Biochemistry from Mysore University. He then worked as Senior Scientist–I at Adichunchanagiri Biotechnology and Cancer Research Institute (ABCRI), Karnataka (2008 –2009). He did his postdoctoral work at Penn-State University, Hershey, USA (2010). After his return, he worked as Assistant professor at Central University of Kerala, Kasargod (2010-2011) and SASTRA University (2011-2013), before joining Center for Emerging Technologies, Jain University (2013- Present). During this tenure he completed 2 projects and presently has 4 international projects from European Union and DST. He has authored a book and contributed eight book chapters with international publishers. He has to his credit filed 3 patents (Indian) and has authored more than 30 International publications. He has guided several students for their MSc, M.Phil. and M.Tech Dissertations works. He is presently serving on the Editorial Board of several prestigious international journals and is reviewer for journals of reputed publishers like Elsevier, Springer, Taylor and Francis, etc. He has received several honors and awards which includes the prestigious BOYSCAST fellowship (DST). He is a life member for several scientific bodies having organized/moderated many high impact international symposiums/workshops. Dhananjaya has research collaboration with leading researchers of Toxinology field that is spread across different continents has has extensively worked on snake venom toxins and its pharmaceutical and therapeutic aspects. His research interest and area of work/expertise includes Toxicology/Toxinology and Drug discovery.


Shrishail G holds a Bachelor’s from NITK (Surathkal) and Master’s from University of Texas, USA both in Mechanical Engineering. He has over 12 years of experience in electromechanical packaging design, analysis and product testing for leading electronics industries in India, USA and Singapore. His teaching and research interests include Fluid, Thermal and Energy sciences and their engineering applications.


Jagadeesh Kumar Mannekote is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Center for Emerging Technologies, Jain University. His research interests are in the areas of Lubricant formulations, additives development for different applications, Sustainability and Life cycle analysis of materials. He bagged 2nd Rank in M.Sc. Industrial Chemistry and has received University Merit Scholarship from the Department of Industrial Chemistry, Kuvempu University. He was also a recipient of the National Rural Talent Merit Scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. He has research experience of over a decade in the area of environment friendly lubricants and greases -formulation characterization and testing and has published 20 research papers, book chapters and proceedings in national and international conferences.


Raghu A V received his Ph.D. degree in polymer chemistry from Karnatak University, India, under the guidance of Prof. T. M. Aminabhavi, and undertook a post doctoral fellowship at University of Ulsan, Republic of Korea. Raghu worked at the R&D Fuel Cell Division, Reliance Industries Ltd., Mumbai, on the development of membranes for fuel cell applications. His main research interests are synthesis and characterization of various types of polymeric nanocomposite for PEMFC and pervaporation separation applications, synthesis of nanographene/GO‐based waterborne polyurethanes for electrostatic charge/discharge applications, the synthesis and characterization of novel polymers for various applications, and the synthesis and antibacterial study of some novel Indole derivatives. He has received funding from VGST, GoK and BRNS-DAE. He has given many invited lectures at numerous national conferences and educational institutes. He has published more than 35 research articles in reputed journals and conference proceedings. He acts as a potential reviewer for various international journals like ACS Nano, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Carbon, Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Membrane Science, Journal of Applied Polymer Science, etc. He has guided numerous degree students for their project work. He is a resource person for VGST, DST and Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat, GOK. He is a member of the Editorial board for International Scholarly Research Network (ISRN) Nanomaterials & Polymer Science, Journal of Polymer Science, ELSEVIER Journal Drug Invention Today [Guest Editor] and lead guest editor for The Scientific World Journal (upcoming issue). He currently works as an Assistant Professor at the center and has funding support from DAE.


Sandeep Suryan is a Postgraduate in Industrial Biotechnology from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. He is a trained professional in Bioprocess Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi. He joined Jain Group as a faculty in 2004 and was a part of the Jain Institute of Vocational and Advanced Studies (Genohelix Biolabs) where he was actively involved in research, training, administration, management of lab resources and marketing of courses and services in the capacity of Research Coordinator. His research interests include Recombinant DNA technology and fermentation Biotechnology. He is also passionate about travelling, photography, and automobiles. Presently, he is an Assistant Professor at the Center for Emerging Technologies, Jain University. 


Santosh M S holds a Doctorate in Chemistry from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal. He pursued his postdoctoral research from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. His research interests are in Thermodynamics, Nanocomposites, Protein Folding in Neurodegenerative and Non-Neuropathic Diseases and Computational Simulations. He has 19 publications in international journals of high repute. He was awarded the Commonwealth Professional Fellowship by the Commonwealth Commission, UK, Research Scholarship by the Hungarian Scholarship Board, Summer Research Fellowship by the Indian Academies of Sciences, Young Scientist Award by the DST, Govt of India, Global Shaper Award by the World Economic Forum and Guest Scholarship from the Swedish Institute. He is the only Indian till date to receive the IUPAC's Junior Researcher Award for research excellence in Chemical Thermodynamics. He was one among the 250 people selected all over the world to be a part of the Nobel Prize 2009 Lectures and Award Ceremony held at Stockholm. His research aims at investigating the dynamics of peptide-membrane interactions, improve physical and electrochemical properties of polymer composites for batteries and sensors and modelling of molecular mechanisms associated with Diabetes and Alzheimer's disease computationally. He has research collaborations with eminent scientists and researchers working in the fields of Amyloid Diseases, Molecular Modeling and Nanotechnology spanning various continents. He has organized and moderated International Conferences. He is also a reviewer for some ACS, Elsevier, Springer and Hindawi Journals. Presently, he is working as an Assistant Professor at the Center with project support from DST.


Harish N is currently working as an Assistant Professor. He is a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. His areas of research are in Application of Soft Computing Techniques in Coastal & Civil Engineering, Remote Sensing & GIS Applications in Coastal Engineering. He has worked as a research staff at NIO, Goa for Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited for 2 years and has many publications to his credit.


Umananda M Bhatta obtained his Ph.D. from the Institute of Physics, India, undertook his post doc at the University of Sheffield, UK and is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Center for Emerging Technologies, Jain University. He has a wide range of research experience spanning a decade in the areas of Transmission electron Microscopy related studies, in-situ structural and chemical study of thin films and nano particles down to atomic level under varying conditions (high temperature, low temperature, e-irradiation, indentation etc). Current and future research plans include structural and chemical study of surfaces and interfaces of metal/metal oxide nanoparticles and thin films down to atomic level which is crucial to many applications including catalysis and sensors. He has published over 50 research papers in internationally peer reviewed journals of high repute.


Meenakshi H N holds a doctorate in Chemistry from Avinashilingam University, Coimbatore. Her areas of specialization include corrosion science and biofuels. She worked as a Research Staff in DST sponsored research project entitled “Corrosion behavior of few industrial metals in selected biodiesels”. She is a recipient of DST-CURIE fellowship from Department of Science and Technology - Consolidation of University Research for Innovation and Excellence. She was awarded the Proficiency (II prize) at the post graduate level in 2004 by Avinashilingam University. She has presented 10 papers at various conferences and published 13 papers in national and international journals. Besides all these, she has five years of research experience in the field of Corrosion and one year academic experience. Presently, she is working as a Research Scientist at the University with project from VGST.


Murli Dhar Meghwal completed his M. Tech. (Dairy and Food Engineering) and Ph. D. (Food Process Engineering) from IIT Kharagpur in 2010 and 2014 respectively.  Currently his research interests are in “Value Addition to Food Products”, “Rice Milling - Parboiling and Automation”, “Application of MEMS for Food”. He was awarded Fellowships to pursue his Ph.D. and M.Tech by the MHRD during 2011-2013, and 2008-2010 respectively. He was also awarded a scholarship for Undergraduate Studies during 2004-2008 by the “Foundation for Academic Excellence and Access (FAEA-New Delhi )” and a recipient of “The President Award –Bharat Scouts”. He has been trained on “Rapid and Nondestractive Evaluation of Food Quality and Safety factors using Spectroscopy and Biosensing Methods” and has industrial experience on “Automation of Paddy Parboiling.” Currently he is working as an Assistant Professor at the University.
